CSI planetarium to offer Saturn-related program
TWIN FALLS — The Faulkner Planetarium at the College of Southern Idaho will kick off 2004 with a new program Friday. “Ring World” details NASA´s Cassini/Huygens mission to Saturn and its giant moon Titan. The show was produced by veteran planetarium program producers and adapted to the planetarium's equipment by Rick Greenawald and Chris Anderson.
Actor John Billingsley, who portrays Dr. Phlox on the new “Star Trek” program, “Enterprise,” does the voice-over in the show. Greenawald said “Ring World” differs from other programs at the planetarium as it covers a current space mission. Cassini/Huygens was launched on its 2-billion-mile odyssey in October 1997.
“Since Cassini/Huygens is expected to arrive at Saturn in July, this program will have a rather short shelf life,” Greenawald said. “But it´s going to be an exciting way for the public and area students to become familiar with one of NASA´s most sophisticated missions and feel like they´re a part of it.” “Ring World” will be shown at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
There also will be a matinee showing at 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors, $2 for students and $9 for families of up to two adults and five children. For information, call the Herrett Center for Arts and Science at (208) 732-6655. Edition Date: 12-28-2003 |
